Would you buy your shoes from Kim?

Kim Kardashian, that is.  Her online shoe buying service ShoeDazzle is a bit tempting.  Just $39.99 per pair/month and you get a pair of shoes.  That’s 12 pairs in 1 year.  If you love shoes, then this is the place for you.  My only gripe is you can’t tell what it looks like unless they are on your feet.  Far too many times have I encountered seeing something online that looks fabulous and then seeing them in person and it just doesn’t look right anymore.  You are able to exchange the shoes or get a refund but at a $5.95 restocking fee cost.  Forty bucks for a pair of shoes, that’s even better than the deals at DSW.

Here’s how the program works.  I haven’t signed up for the service but I’ve gone as far as the credit card information.  They ask you a series of questions to get a gauge of your style.  First is the Fashion Survey where you click on the picture of the model (out of 3 choices).  Then, you are asked which shoe do you like the most followed by which brand you like the most, and which celebrities’ fashion sense you like the most.  The last phase is determining your age range, shoe size, dress size, ranking favorite color, etc. You won’t be charged until you buy your first pair of shoes, you can skip a month if you choose to, or cancel altogether.

I have not signed up yet because I’ve only bought 4 pairs of shoes just this year and going on pair #5 soon.  But I’m curious to see what shoes they would have presented to me.   Realistically, I would have no occasion to wear those gorgeous heeled or flat shoes- maybe weddings? or company formals semi-formals? And if you’ve been following my blog, you would already know that I prefer wearing Crocs.  You may want to consider this program if you work in an industry that shows off your purty little feet.

Didn’t you hear? Ceramic Grills Are The Rage

My father is crazy.  He wants to get a ceramic grill which can run up to over a grand. Ceramic grills are supposed to heat food via conduction and convection, thereby locking in moisture and flavors.  He doesn’t grill that much anymore  like he used to, so why would he want to buy an expensive grill?  Is this a guy thing or something?  It seems that a lot of men just want a grill just like they want to own some type of electric saw.

Lately my dad has been debating on whether to get a Primo vs. Kamado ceramic grill.  My answer: None.  You don’t need it.  But for those of you who are interested in grills, here is an old post that shows all types grills – the kamado is listed as #4 on the list.  My comment on his #1 grill – it’s the same as a kitchen but outdoors and with a BBQ.  Too extravagant and not needed.  However, if by luck, I became a trillionarie, I would get an expensive BBQ just because I can.  I must admit the kamado looks purty.

I have found an article that strictly goes over a short list of disadvantages of ceramic grills.  Might be useful to look at if you’re deciding on getting a ceramic grill or not.  I hope my dad is reading this.

Real vs. Fake Oral B Replacement Brushheads
October 5, 2009, 8:37 am

The mister and I use electric toothbrushes.  We both love it.  My teeth feel clean and polished everytime.  For a time, we both had Sonicare and then started using Braun Oral B. In comparison, I prefer using Braun Oral-B for the smaller brushhead and seemingly longer rechargeable battery life.

Anyway, the point of my blog is about the oral B replacement brushheads.  The brushheads are a bit expensive so last year I decided to buy the brushheads on ebay.  I thought it was strange that the packaging had german words on them.  Germany makes great reliable cars so I assumed the brushheads were equally the same.  And it was crazy cheap.  Everything was fine and dandy after using them.  Six months later, I didn’t think nothing of it, but I realized the blue replacement indicator wasn’t fading.  Weird.  With the mister’s brush, pieces of the plastic were breaking off and he said these brushheads suck.  Since my brushhead didn’t break, I thought maybe it was just a fluke.  I really should’ve replaced my brushhead after 3-6 months but I depend so much on the blue indicator.  I also noticed the bristles weren’t splaying like it usually does on the original brushheads.  Again, didn’t think anything of it.

It took my visit to the dentist to realize that I had a fake brushhead.  The dentist said the blue indicator was supposed to fade and the bristles are supposed to splay.  Using this brushhead was probably the reason why I started seeing stains in between my teeth for the first time.  I’ve never had stains before.  So let this be a lesson to all of you.  You pay more for a good brushhead for a reason.  Since my visit to the dentist, I bought a whole pack of brushheads at costco because I’m 100% sure they are authentic.  But I haven’t bought any from amazon.com yet.  I’m not confident in the sellers enough to buy from them.

If you aren’t sure if you have an real or fake oral b brush head, I took the liberty of making a side by side comparison of real vs. fake.  You can also click on this link to tell you the differences (which is what I should’ve done in the first place).  The post talks about how to spot a fake.  Below are photos of the real and fake brushheads.  You can see a little bit of difference.  For the side by side comparison photos, the fake brushhead is on the left and has a blue color ring and the real brushhead is on the right and has the yellow ring.

Beware of buying fake brushheads.  You buy a cheap brushhead, you get a cheap brushhead.  After my visit to the dentist, I am now stain free.

Made For Better Snuggling

My friend posted this link on FB awhile ago.  Where was this when the mister and I first started dating? There was a time when we loved to snuggle and fall asleep in each others arms for long naps.  And we managed even if there was little blood flow to our arms.

Fast foward 5 years later and you’ll find us on opposite sides of the bed after a 5 – 10 minute snuggle.  Partly because it’s not as comfortable as it used to be.  This would be a perfect solution to longer snug time.  But answer me this: where would one find mattress covers for this type of mattress?lovemattress

New Crocs – Lydia

I was hoping to get my hands on the Lena Crocs I wrote about on a previous post but Crocs wasn’t making them anymore.  After twiddling my thumbs for months, I finally saw that Crocs had a new heeled shoe – Lydia!  Clicked on the ‘add to cart’ button without a second thought.  I was determined to get myself a pair of black wedge Crocs since the Lenas ran out of my size and I didn’t want this to happen to me again with the Lydias.  lydia_10509_pair_060

I didn’t care about the thin bow on the top of the Crocs.  I just needed comfortable heeled shoes for work.  So here is my review for the Lydia Crocs.

CONS:
*seamed edges look like they may come apart after some time
*has a fabric strip on the inside sole which makes it hard for me to quickly rinse and dry if it needs to be cleaned
*occasionally makes those fart sounds when walking
*does not come in half sizes
*my toenails felt compressed after awhile (probably b/c they don’t come in half sizes)
PROS:
*having the heels makes it that my pants don’t have to be hemmed (i am short)
*do not have any cramping in my feet like I do with many other shoes
*generally my feet do not hurt after standing and walking around in them all day (besides the toenail compression)
*because the sole is rubber, it doesn’t make the clacking sound on floors
*can walk on wet tile floor without worrying about slipping
*can walk in the rain without worrying about the water ruining the shoe
*would win a foot race if I was competing against another in non-rubber heeled shoes

Bottomline: These shoes are great if regular high heeled shoes hurt so much it makes your work life miserable.  If they had really nice brown color ones (current colors besides black do not look good), I would buy them.
